Saw the Dr and it’s official ;)
So, I’ve scheduled a few appointments.
My first u/s to date the pregnancy will be next Tuesday at 1:00 pm and my first prenatal will be the following Thursday, 5/24 at 10:00 am.
Of course I’ve been having some problems with my lower, back wisdom tooth and was working on getting it taken care of when I discovered I had this little person inside me. So I had to make an impromptu visit to my new ob yesterday to get a release for my dentist to do an extraction. It was my first time meeting him as a patient although I have, in fact, watched him ‘in action’ as he delivered my niece. I liked him. Alot.
In my previous pregnancy I was under the care of a group of mid-wives. And although everything turned out fine and my delivery was wonderful, I was never really happy with the care I recieved from them. I know mid-wives tend to be more hands-off and go the natural route but I felt as though they would blow me off at every concern I had. They dismissed everything as being just a ‘normal part of pregnancy’. And while I recognize most of my concerns probably were just that, I wanted more of an explanation. I deserved more of an explanation. But enough of that. I’m sure I’ll go more into detail about their care at a later time. I just don’t have time for that now.
After a rough start on Sunday, the bean has adjusted beautifully to the news that she’ll be recieving a new little sibling. She has turned into a total mama hen with me. She reminds me not to lay on tummy, walks me to the bathroom at night (so I don’t fall – lol) and has excitedly proclaimed every afternoon when she gets home from school that my belly has gotten SOOO much bigger!!

So… back to the ob visit yesterday. It was supposed to be a simple meet and greet sort of thing. Confirm the pregnancy, give me my release form and I’d be on my way. But after talking a bit and realizing I was completely clueless about dating the pregnancy he decided to go ahead and do an exam. Based on the size of my uterus, he’s guessing me to be anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks. That gives me a due date between 12/18/07 and 1/1/08. A holiday baby!
Poor kid… lol
